is a not-for-profit agency that provides
Prevention Education, School-Based Counseling, Out-Patient Treatment
and the
Domestic Violence & Abuse Course for Men. Delphi is licensed by
the NYS
Office of Alcoholism and
Substance
Abuse Services.
Delphi was created by the merger of the Drug and Alcohol Council and Delphi Drug Abuse Center– two highly regarded organizations that have worked closely as partners for many years. The result is an agency with more than 106 years of combined experience treating and preventing drug and alcohol abuse.Depression, anxiety, suicide, teenage pregnancy, domestic violence and family disruption are issues closely connected to the use of drugs and alcohol.
The School-Based Counseling Program is offered to school districts by direct contract. The overall objective of the program is to intervene with “high risk” students. Utilizing the Asset Development and Risk & Protection models the overall goal of this program is to assist students to be successful in school while working on other issues associated with substance use/abuse. Delphi has been providing school-based prevention education and counseling services to school districts since 1979. Over the years, Delphi has collaborated with a number of other agencies in the development and delivery of programming, assistance in developing criteria and evaluation tools, and in the development of policies and procedures. The prevention programs in this geographic region have a long history of sharing, collaborating, and cooperating, and Delphi is proud to have been part of this for a long time.
Skillbuilders:
Prevention Education Services
The Skillbuilders
programs are targeted toward students in kindergarten through grade
nine. The
Skillbuilders programs are designed to
assist schools in teaching students the skills they need to lead a safe and drug free lifestyle. Lessons
are designed to meet the National Health Standards and designed in a
way to
enhance each districts health education and character education
curricula. Reconnecting Youth: A Peer Group
Approach to Building
Life Skills
Reconnecting Youth, called RY for short, is a School-based group/classroom approach to building life skills for high-risk students. RY is a science-based program that has been recommended by the U.S. Dept. of Education as a curriculum that helps reduce drug use and violent behavior.
Delphi’s
Out-Patient Treatment
Program is a full service, medically supervised program
licensed by
the NYS-OASAS. Delphi
is also a NYS -
DMV approved treatment agency for DWI evaluation & treatment
services.
Delphi also provides on-site AOD screening/assessments at Pre-Trial
Diversion.
The DWI Victim Advocacy Program
The DWI Victim Advocacy Program provides support and counsel to DWI victims and their families immediately following a DWI related crash. Assistance is provided through the criminal justice process and beyond as families learn to cope with the immediate and long-term consequences of the crash. The program also works closely with the Monroe County STOP-DWI program to offer the Victim Impact Panel, as well as other prevention education services in area schools in an attempt to increase awareness about the dangers of driving while intoxicated.
Domestic Violence &
Abuse Course for Men (DVACM)
The Domestic
Violence & Abuse Course for
Men is a dual
intervention program for men only with domestic
violence and substance abuse issues. In addition to a substance abuse
evaluation and treatment, participants are required to complete 26
sessions
specifically focused on domestic violence and how to end it.
Delphi’s Comprehensive Case
Management Program, funded by the
United Way, is designed to provide
comprehensive case management services to clients referred by the
criminal
justice/court system. The objective is to assist these clients to
access
services necessary to increase their overall wellness and achieve
long-term,
sustained recovery.
The Stand
Up Guys
program was developed “to
raise
awareness about violence against women and girls and to promote gender
equality
in our community.” The goal of the program is provide
community and
school-based educational programs and activities designed to engage
“well
intentioned” and “well meaning” men and
women in the process of standing up and
speaking out in an effort to prevent domestic violence, sexual assault,
harassment and other forms of abuse directed at women and girls.
Additionally,
the program works to raise awareness about the significant correlation
between
violence, trauma, and the use of AOD’s, as well as dispel
common myths.
